Indiana basketball has seen some positive signs from the first two seasons of Mike Woodson’s leadership. As the Hoosiers prepare for his third season at the helm, Indiana announced the team will participate in an event at Madison Square Garden early in the 2023-24 season.

According to Tuesday’s release, the Hoosiers will participate in the 2023 Empire Classic in New York alongside Louisville, Texas and national champion UConn. The games will be played Nov. 19-20 with matchups and tip-off times announced at a later date.

Indiana is 14-12 all-time in games played inside Madison Square Garden. The Empire Classic will also be a homecoming for Woodson after he played and coached for the New York Knicks.

Here’s a snapshot of the Empire Classic per the press release:

First played in 1995, the Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project presented by Continental Tire is acclaimed as college basketball’s premier early-season tournament. Featuring teams from across the nation, the Empire Classic annually attracts the top programs in the sport.
