Indiana has landed a new linebacker from the NCAA transfer portal.

On Saturday, the Hoosiers received a pledge from former Kentucky linebacker Jared Casey. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

Casey, a Louisville native, spent 3 seasons with the Wildcats before deciding to hop into the NCAA transfer portal. He played in 15 games and was credited with 22 tackles, including 2 for loss.

In 2020, Casey played in 11 games for Kentucky and collected 20 stops. This year, he made just 1 appearance.

Casey is joining an Indiana squad that struggled during the 2021 season, ending with a 2-10 record and going winless in the B1G. Most of the Hoosiers’ issues game offensively, but the defense was not nearly as opportunistic as it played during the 2020 campaign.

Casey will still have 3 years of eligibility to use with the Hoosiers. He’ll add experience and depth to the linebacker room in Bloomington as IU looks to bounce back from the dreadful season.
