Indiana has added another member to its 2023 recruiting class.
The Hoosiers received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-5, 205-pound tight end Sam West. The Greensburg, Ind. native becomes the second player of the cycle to pledge to Tom Allen and Indiana.
West made his announcement with a post on Twitter on Saturday. He picked IU over offers from other Power 5 programs such as Iowa State, Purdue, Rutgers and Tennessee. At the Group of 5 level, he held offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.
“Big thank you to all schools who reached out during the process and gave me an opportunity,” West wrote. “Thank you to Coach (Kevin) Wright and Coach Allen for the opportunity to play at Indiana. I’m excited to announce I’ll be furthering my education and football career at Indiana University!”
