Micah McFadden was the difference maker for Indiana this past weekend, who went on the road and upended Wisconsin 14-6. The Indiana linebacker had a monster performance in what was a statement win in Madison.

He was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week as well as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week. On Thursday, the Chuck Bednarik Award listed him as ‘Who’s Hot’ heading into the final week of Big Ten play:

Playing without its offensive catalyst, injured QB Michael Penix, Indiana went into Madison Saturday and handed Wisconsin its second loss of the year. McFadden is quietly performing at an All-Big Ten level during his junior year. In Week 14, the Hoosiers kept the Badgers out of the end zone, with No. 47 contributing 7.5 tackles and a pair of Graham Mertz sacks.

He had six tackles including two tackles for a loss and two sacks this past weekend. He has 39 tackles and five sacks on the season.

The Bednarik Award is given out annually by the Maxwell Football Club to the nation’s top player. Last year, Ohio State’s Chase Young was named by the organization as the recipient of the award.

No player from Indiana has ever won the award.
