Indiana head coach Tom Allen has come to a decision at the most important position in football.

On Thursday morning while meeting with reporters, Allen announced that redshirt sophomore Peyton Ramsey would be the starting quarterback for the Hoosiers heading into Week 1.

Ramsey was in a three-man battle for the starting job with graduate transfer Brandon Dawkins and true freshman Michael Penix.

Ramsey saw action in nine games for Indiana last season, making four starts as a redshirt freshman. He threw for 1,252 yards, 10 touchdowns and had just five interceptions on the year.

He completed passes at a 65.4 percent clip and also added 226 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Allen also hinted that all three quarterbacks could see snaps at some point in the season, but that Ramsey will be the first under center for the Hoosiers.

Indiana opens its season on Sept. 1 when it travels to Florida International.
