Indiana picked up a commitment for the 2023 recruiting class on Monday.

That pledge comes from AJ Thomas, a 3-star Edge defender out of Ruston, Louisiana. Thomas was also considering Louisiana Tech and Tulane.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 lbs., Thomas is a 3-star prospect and the No. 75 Edge defender, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Thomas also checks in as the No. 32 player out of Louisiana for the cycle.

Thomas had originally committed to Louisiana Tech in April, but that commitment lasted until July. He took an official visit to Bloomington in June before eventually reopening his recruitment.

Thomas becomes the 9th player committed to Indiana for the 2023 recruiting class. That group was ranked 77th nationally by the team recruiting rankings prior to his decision.

Head coach Tom Allen previously said he expects the Hoosiers’ recruiting class to be a bit smaller this season, so we’ll see where the program moves on from Thomas’ commitment.
