Indiana has a lot of work to do on the 2023 recruiting trail, but the Hoosiers picked up a commitment for the cycle late Sunday evening.

This time, the pledge came from Amare Ferrell, a 6-foot-1 and 192 lb. defensive back out of Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida. Ferrell had drawn offers from Florida State, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Penn State and Miami (FL), among others.

Ferrell has played cornerback in high school and is also rated as a safety prospect for the class of 2023. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Ferrell is a 3-star recruit and the No. 40 safety prospect nationally.

Indiana’s 2023 recruiting class is off to a slow start under head coach Tom Allen with the pledge from Ferrell bringing the Hoosiers up to 4 total commitments for the cycle. That group is currently rated 68th nationally by the team recruiting rankings.
