Indiana earned a major transfer commitment on Wednesday night from former Auburn defensive end Jaren Handy.

Handy announced his decision to join the Hoosiers on Twitter.

Handy has played sparingly the last two seasons for Auburn. He totaled 10 tackles, three tackles for loss and 1 sack for the Tigers.

However, Handy comes in with a lot of pedigree. He was a 4-star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class, and was the No. 7 strong side defensive end in the country according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 100 overall player in the 2019 class.

There’s also a family connection with this commitment. Handy is cousins with Indiana star receiver Ty Fryfogle. Both players are originally from Mississippi.

Handy is Indiana’s seventh transfer commitment this offseason, and the fourth from a Power 5 school. The Hoosiers have also added Florida State transfer D.J. Matthews, Ole Miss transfer Ryder Anderson and Michigan transfer Zach Carpenter.
