Indiana QB, team's leading passer reportedly enters transfer portal
One Indiana QB has reportedly entered the transfer portal the day after head coach Tom Allen was officially fired.
According to Tom VanHaaren with ESPN, starting quarterback Brendan Sorsby entered the transfer portal early Monday morning. Sorsby split reps with and lost the starting job at one point to Tayven Jackson before going on to lead the team in passing during the 2023 season.
Sorsby appeared in 10 games this season and completed 57% of his passes for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions to go with 4 rushing touchdowns. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Sorsby for the 2024 season.
With Allen fired, the Hoosiers will likely have a host of players hit the transfer portal to either examine their options or make plans to leave the program entirely. Already, another QB has confirmed he will hit the portal with plans to move on.
Dexter Williams II confirmed Sunday evening he would hit the portal with multiple years of eligibility at a new destination. Williams was promoted to the starting job during the 2022 season but suffered a devastating knee injury in the season finale and did not see action in 2023.
