Indiana has been sailing along this fall, coming into Saturday’s home showdown with Michigan at 9-0 and becoming college football’s darling of 2024, at least so far.

But in the first half on Saturday, the Hoosiers suffered a scary injury, as senior running back Justice Ellison had to be taken to the locker room after taking a brutal hit by Wolverines defensive back Brandyn Hillman. Ellison caught a pass out of the backfield toward the left sideline midway through the 2nd quarter, but he didn’t really see Hillman barreling toward him.

Hillman got him really good, and Ellison was immediately removed from the game and taken to the injury tent after the hit.

Ellison had 4 carries for 11 yards and 3 receptions for 20 yards, including the catch that took him out of the game after Hillman’s hit.

Going into Saturday, Ellison had racked up 669 yards rushing on 111 carries, averaging exactly 6 yards per carry to go with his 9 rushing touchdowns. He also had 8 catches for 64 yards prior to Saturday’s game, and it appears one of his 3 catches against Michigan might cost him, although Ellison did re-enter the game later in the 2nd quarter.

Now, the injury attention turns to Myles Price, a star wide receiver, who left the game in the second quarter after a similar hard hit from the Wolverine secondary. Price remained on the turf for a while after being hit hard and was taken directly to the locker room.

Meanwhile, things were still good for Indiana on the scoreboard, as the Hoosiers took a 17-3 lead into the locker room and were 30 strong minutes away from improving to 10-0 during this so-far magical season.
