Indiana running back Morgan Ellison is facing a two-and-a-half year suspension from the university for allegedly sexually assaulting another student, according to a report.

Late Wednesday night, the Indianapolis Star reported that an Indiana University panel determined that Ellison assaulted the student while she was sleeping and used force to continue the assault when she woke up.

“The aggravating factor of [Ellison] engaging in sexual activity while Complainant was asleep, and [Ellison]’s use of force during the incident,” is what led to a two-and-a-half year suspension. It is unclear whether Ellison has appealed the decision.

Ellison said the act was consensual and denied using force.

The findings from the IU panel will also require Ellison to seek counseling and is not permitted to set foot on any Indiana University campus. He’s also barred from having any contact with the student he allegedly assaulted.

Ellison was suspended before the start of the 2018 season and has not appeared in a game for the Hoosiers. Recently, Tom Allen said that the running back had returned to practice but was still suspended from playing.

Allen also said that he had weekly meetings with Ellison during the suspension.

In 2017, Ellison led the Hoosiers in rushing with 704 yards and six touchdowns. He was a true freshman. He was expected to be the starting running back prior to his suspension.
