Indiana reportedly landing recently hired C-USA DC as safeties coach
Indiana has reportedly landed a new assistant for Tom Allen’s coaching staff heading into the 2023 season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, the Hoosiers are hiring Matt Guerrieri to be the safeties coach and co-DC. Guerrieri was just introduced in January as the defensive coordinator for Tulsa under new head coach Kevin Wilson.
Prior to accepting the job at Tulsa, Guerrieri served as a senior advisor and analyst at Ohio State in 2022. He also spent 10 seasons as an assistant at Duke, including from 2018-21 as safeties coach and co-DC.
Guerrierri also will be co-defensive coordinator for IU, per source. https://t.co/PK6Rlm8GbI

It is not initially clear why Guerrieri has had an about-face before coaching a single game as DC at Tulsa, but this should prove to be a solid hire for Allen and Indiana. We’ll see how things shape up moving forward.
