Indiana got some good news on Wednesday with a commitment from a Hoosier.

Carter Smith announced on Nov. 27 that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal. Wednesday, he revealed that he has changed those plans and is withdrawing from the portal. Smith used the popular “I’m not leaving” clip from “The Wolf of Wall Street” to announce his return in a video post featuring highlights from his 2 seasons with the Hoosiers.

Smith’s decision is a big win for new head coach Curt Cignetti. It’s worth noting that offensive line coach Bob Bostad was retained by Cignetti.

Smith started all 12 games at left tackle for the Hoosiers in the 2023 season. He was considered a sought-after transfer, having already taken visits with Ole Miss and Florida State.

A former Olentangy Liberty standout from Powell, Ohio, Smith was a sought-after prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He was rated 3-stars the No. 21 player in the state of Ohio on the 247Sports Composite. He originally signed with Indiana over Tennessee, Northwestern, Virginia and others.
