Indiana WR Luke Timian earns second Burlsworth trophy nomination
Indiana fifth-year senior wide receiver Luke Timian is once again being recognized for his outstanding trajectory as a Division-1A college football player.
On Friday afternoon, the Hoosiers’ official athletic site released news that Timian has been nominated for the Burlsworth trophy for the second time in as many years. The Burlsworth trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.
Timian, who has tallied 120 receptions for 1,196 yards and four touchdowns in 31 games, served as a walk-on at Indiana in 2015 and 2016 before earning a scholarship during 2017 fall camp. He became the 22nd Hoosier to reach 100 receptions and 1,000 yards in Week 3’s win against Ball State.
The Southlake, Tex. native enters Week 10 with 31 catches for 279 yards in 2018.
Indiana (4-5, 1-5 Big Ten) is hoping to rebound from its four-game losing streak and enter the bowl conversation this weekend at home vs. Maryland (5-3, 3-2).
