After just one season at Indiana, freshman phenom Romeo Langford has decided to enter his name in the 2019 NBA Draft, according to a report.

Langford told ESPN on Thursday that he plans to officially announce his decision sometime next week. He is a former five-star talent and spent one season with the Hoosiers in Bloomington.

In addition to the draft news, Langford will be undergoing surgery on his thumb after suffering an injury earlier this year during a practice. The freshman told ESPN he sustained the injury before Indiana’s early season matchup against Duke and it’s “been hurting ever since.”

A hometown hero, Langford averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season for the Hoosiers. He earned second-team All-B1G honors and was an all-conference freshman player.

Even before his arrival in Bloomington, Langford was expected to be a one-and-done player. He was expected to help lead the Hoosiers back to national prominence, but injuries and close losses kept IU out of the NCAA Tournament in 2019.

Indiana finished the year 19-16 and won two games in the NIT before falling to Wichita State. Langford did not play in the postseason due to injury.

Langford did help the Hoosiers win some big-time games this season, including a series sweep over B1G champs and Final Four squad Michigan State. Indiana also defeated Louisville, Marquette and Wisconsin — all tournament teams.

Langford is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
