Indiana junior forward Justin Smith has decided to test the NBA Draft waters this year. He does plan to retain his college eligibility for the 2020-21 season, however.

College basketball players are permitted to enter their names in the NBA Draft with the opportunity to receive feedback before making a final decision. Smith will have until June 3 to decide whether or not he’ll keep his name in the draft or if he’ll return to Indiana.

Last season, Smith ranked second on the team in scoring with 10.4 points per game and was tied as the Hoosiers’ leading rebounder, averaging 5.2 boards per contest. The 2019-20 campaign marked his most productive year in three seasons in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers received good news earlier this week, as B1G All-Freshman selection Trayce Jackson-Davis announced that he will be returning to IU for his sophomore season, bypassing the NBA Draft process. If Smith returns, Indiana will likely be a favorite to compete for a regular season B1G title in 2020-21.

Indiana was 20-12 last season with a 9-11 mark in league play.
