Indiana will be welcomed to Miami two days earlier than originally planned.

The team announced on Thursday that its 2016 season opener at Florida International will now be played on Thursday, Sept. 1. The time and TV broadcast has yet to be determined.

It won’t be the first time in recent memory the Hoosiers are opening on a non-Saturday. They kicked off the 2013 season on a Thursday night against Indiana State and rolled to a 73-35 victory. They also hosted Thursday night openers in 2009 and 2010, both of which they won.

Indiana will seek the same result it got in 2015 when it hosted FIU. Against former Illinois coach Ron Turner, IU pulled away for a 36-22 win in Bloomington in the second game of the season.

The teams have will play each other every season through 2018, alternating at each school.
