Jalen Hood-Schifino, Indiana guard, takes home pair of B1G weekly honors
Jalen Hood-Schifino took home the B1G Player of the Week and B1G Freshman of the Week awards following his incredible efforts in last week’s games against Michigan State and Purdue.
Hood-Schifino is not playing like a freshman right now. The talented guard out of Pittsburgh was especially dominant against Purdue, dropping a game-high 35 points with 7 rebounds and 2 assists. His efforts led to Indiana’s first sweep of Purdue since the 2012-13 season.
And he was excellent against Michigan State, too. Despite the loss, Indiana’s star PG scored 16 points, adding 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Jalen Hood-Schifino could be the difference for Indiana in March.
Indiana basketball is a legit contender for a deep run in March because of Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis’ incredible play as of late.
The Hoosiers are at their best with Hood-Schifino on the floor doing his thing, both defensively and offensively. The threat he and Jackson-Davis present on the floor together is almost unfair.
The Hoosiers have taken a rough schedule well these past few weeks. Sweeping Purdue is obviously a milestone, but continuing their winning ways to end the year is crucial despite being locked into the NCAA Tournament. Because the B1G has been so competitive, Indiana is still not guaranteed a top 4 seed in the upcoming B1G tournament.
Let’s see what Hood-Schifino and Indiana have in store against Iowa and Michigan to close the season.
