Jaylin Lucas put the Hoosiers on top early against Rutgers after a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

On the opening kickoff, the freshman RB scored the first touchdown of his college career. After a basket catch at the 8-yard line, Lucas escaped to the nearside of the field, cutting past a group of Rutgers defenders.

At midfield, the speedy RB turned on the jets, leaving everyone in his wake. He sped into the end zone with just 11 seconds gone from the clock.

Lucas, a 3-star recruit from Louisiana, may be new to Indiana, but he’s already gaining attention for his work on the field. Head coach Tom Allen has recognized the RB’s talent, saying ” He’s got short speed and long speed and that quickness piece and that gives him the ability to make plays in multiple ways whether that’s in the backfield, on the perimeter or in the return game.”

Lucas certainly showed his quickness on that return and has the potential for a huge game today.
