Joel Klatt is all over Indiana, and in the best of ways.

The FOX college football analyst has watched Curt Cignetti come into Bloomington in his 1st season and totally transform the culture of Hoosiers football. For decades, Indiana has boasted a proud basketball tradition while its football past has left a lot to be desired.

But Indiana fans aren’t fast-forwarding the fall to basketball season like usual in 2024, as the Hoosiers are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten. They’ve ascended all the way to No. 13 in the latest AP Poll.

Of course, the turnaround has a lot to do with the players getting it done on the field, but in this case, it’s also all about the head coach. Cignetti has won everywhere he’s been and is doing it yet again, this time on the big stage.

“We’re deep into October, folks. They have the No. 1 scoring offense in the country deep in October,” said Klatt during his podcast on Monday morning. “Curt Cignetti has done a marvelous job with this Indiana team. … They’re incredibly well-coached.”

Klatt admires what Cignetti has done on the sidelines on game days this fall, but he’s also a huge fan of how he’s built this Indiana team.

“This idea that Curt Cignetti had to prioritize production over potential in the transfer portal has paid off huge,” said Klatt. “He went after players with a lot of experience that had produced at a high level.”

As a result of Cignetti’s blueprint, Indiana has legitimate aspirations to continue pushing for a potential Playoff spot. Now, the task is to keep the players focused on the task at hand, and that will be a game against Washington this week.
