Michael Penix Jr. reportedly visiting key Group of 5 program this weekend
Michael Penix Jr. continues to examine his options since entering the transfer portal, and one report indicates Penix is visiting with a key Group of 5 program closer to home.
The Indiana quarterback entered the portal following the conclusion of a season that saw him miss time due to injury. That is on top of a rough offseason that saw Penix battle back while rehabbing a season-ending injury that was suffered in 2020.
Now, Andrew Ivins with 247 Sports is reporting that Penix is visiting with UCF and head coach Gus Malzahn over the weekend. Penix – who is out of Florida – played his high school ball in Tampa.

Penix was a 3-star QB in 2018 out of Tampa Bay Tech. UCF is located in Orlando and could provide Penix an opportunity to play closer to home.
Malzahn took over the program prior to the 2021 season and led the Knights to an 8-4 record and Gasparilla Bowl appearance vs. Florida.
