Mike Woodson had a dubious response when it came to one comparison for a star Indiana freshman.

Indiana star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis can see the firepower in 5-star prospect Jalen Hood-Schifino. Can Woodson?

Jackson-Davis compared Hood-Schifino to Illinois legend Ayo Dosunmu during B1G Basketball Media Days. When asked what he thought of the comparison, Woodson wasn’t sure if it was the right fit.

Then again, Woodson had no idea who Dosunmu was, so it’s a fair assessment compared to other players out there.

Dosunmu shined for the Illini during his 3 seasons in Champaign. For his career, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He also averaged roughly 33.2 minutes per game as well.

Dosunmu was selected in the 2nd round by the Chicago Bulls of the 2021 NBA Draft. Woodson was hired by the Hoosiers in March of 2021, meaning he would’ve just missed facing off against Dosunmu for the annual battle on the court.

Hood-Schifino, a 6-foot-5 guard from Montverde, FL, will have the chance to be an immediate factor for the Hoosiers’  offense. Last season at Montverde Academy, Hood-Schifino averaged over 9.7 points, 5.4 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.7 turnovers in 28.6 minutes per game.

The Hoosiers will begin the season at Assembly Hall against Moorehead State on Nov. 7.
