Mike Woodson’s team did not have a great season at the free throw line in 2021. His team finished last in the B1G in free throw percentage with 70% made last season.

Indiana went to the free throw line plenty against Bethune-Cookman and capitalized off of it, making 21-of-22 attempts. Woodson was very proud of his team’s improved efforts at the charity stripe.

“Nobody wants to go up and miss free throws,” said Woodson. “It’s a mental thing, man. Somebody gives you free throws, you’ve got to take advantage of it. Tonight, our focus and concentration level was high, and we stepped up to the line and we made ’em.”

Indiana is now 2-0 after the 101-49 win on Thursday. Trayce Jackson-Davis led the Hoosiers in scoring with 21 points. Jackson-Davis went 3-for-3 on free throws, and also had 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

Indiana faces Xavier next at the Gavitt Tipoff Games. That game will be at 6 p.m. ET on FS1.
