Mike Woodson is liking what he’s seen from guard Tamar Bates. He talked about how he’s done this offseason in detail at a zoom presser.

Bates is going into his sophomore season with Indiana. Last season he averaged 3.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. He noted that while he didn’t have a lot of things going against him last season, he did have a child. This is not an easy thing to do at Bates’ age.

“I think Tamar Bates is starting to figure it out,” said Woodson. “I wouldn’t say he had a lot of things going against him last year, but he had a baby. That’s a big responsibility for an 18, 19 year old kid. He’s comfortable in his own skin.”

We’ll see what kind of role Bates has with the team this season. Indiana fans will get to see what their team is made as the Hoosiers face Marian in an exhibition on Saturday.
