Deland McCullough’s run at Notre Dame could be ending before it even got started — and for good reason.

According to a report from John Brice of Football Scoop, the New York Giants are interested in bringing McCullough on board as the running backs coach. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman recently hired McCullough away from Indiana to coach the running backs in South Bend.

McCullough was in Bloomington for just one season. He left the Kansas City Chiefs to join Tom Allen’s staff ahead of the 2021 season.

Per the report, Freeman is working hard to keep McCullough in South Bend. McCullough’s last stop in the NFL last three years, working with the Chiefs from 2018-20.

McCullough returned to Bloomington for the 2021 season. He was previously the running backs coach for the Hoosiers from 2011-16, working on Kevin Wilson’s staff. McCullough also worked at USC in 2017.
