Indiana basketball received a big boost for the 2022-23 season.

Thursday evening, forward Race Thompson revealed he is coming back to Bloomington for one final season with the Hoosiers. He originally joined Indiana as a 4-star prospect in the 2017 recruiting class.

Thompson has developed into a key piece for Indiana and will provide a solid piece for Mike Woodson’s second season with the program. The 6-foot-8 Thompson has started every game for the Hoosiers over the past two seasons, including all 35 games during the 2021-22 campaign.

Last season, Thompson was third on Indiana’s NCAA Tournament team in scoring at 11.1 points per game. He also finished second on the team in rebounding (7.5 per game) and steals (1.1 per game).

For his career, Thompson has appeared in 100 games for Indiana and will bring a veteran presence to the team. He will be a welcome addition as Woodson tries to round out the roster and build off the success of last season.
