An ugly story involving former Indiana wide receiver Da’Shaun Brown surfaced Friday afternoon.

According to a report by Laura Lane with The Herald-Times, Brown was arrested by Bloomington police on preliminary charges of kidnapping, robbery and battery resulting in injury. The incident took place in the early morning hours of April 6.

The victim alleges Brown used a large knife and threatened to kill him if he did not give him money. Brown allegedly drove the victim to an ATM and forced him to withdraw money.

According to the news release from the Bloomington police depart, the incident occurred after a consensual encounter between the two after meeting through the Grindr dating app:

“The victim reported that he had met an unknown man on the dating app Grindr and had invited the man to his apartment for consensual sexual activity around 2 a.m.,” the news release said. “The victim reported that the suspect wore a face-covering and requested that the lights inside the apartment be turned off so he could not be identified.”

Brown originally joined the Hoosiers as a member of the 2019 recruiting class. He appeared in 2 games during the 2020 season but did not see action at all in 2021 before entering the transfer portal.
