Former Indiana basketball star Cody Zeller is going to miss some time due to injury.

Zeller suffered a fractured left hand in the Charlotte Hornets’ season-opener on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Zeller is going to miss about 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery.

Zeller is in his eight season in the NBA. He’s spent all eight years with the Hornets after they drafted him No. 4 overall in the 2013 NBA draft.

He’s coming off a career year in which he averaged 11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest — both career highs for him. Zeller is in the final year of a 4-year, $56 million contract that began with the 2017-18 season.

In two seasons with the Hoosiers, Zeller averaged 16.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He started all 72 games of his Indiana career and twice led the Hoosiers to the Sweet 16.
