Mike Woodson is going to be taking full advantage of his first offseason as the head coach at Indiana.

Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported on Friday that the Indiana basketball team will be taking an international trip to the Bahamas in August. It will be the first trip outside the country since a visit to Montreal in 2014.

Indiana will be permitted to have 10 full practices in August as well as the opportunity to play games in the Bahamas. The Hoosiers were last in the Bahamas before the start of the 2007-08 season.

Woodson was hired following the 2020-21 season to replace Archie Miller, who was the head coach for four seasons. Indiana didn’t reach the NCAA Tournament at any point during Miller’s tenure, prompting the program to make a change.

So far, Woodson has hit the ground running in Bloomington. He’s done a great job retaining members of last year’s roster while also landing talent through the transfer portal. Taking a trip overseas will help this new team gel before the start of the 2021-22 season.
