Report: Indiana defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is 'front-runner' for head coaching job
It looks like Indiana defensive coordinator Kane Wommack will be taking a new gig in the next day or two.
According to a report from FootballScoop, Kane Wommack looks to be the top guy for the South Alabama head coaching job:
This report has IU defensive coordinator Kane Wommack as "the front-runner" for the South Alabama job, and that the job is expected to be filled in " the next 24 to 72 hours." #iufb https://t.co/vXZfbu6SB0

This shouldn’t come as a shock as Wommack has been a coach at South Alabama before (their defensive coordinator in fact).
He’s done an outstanding job with the Hoosiers defensive unit as they’re tied for sixth in takeaways with 20 and they’re first in the country with 17 interceptions.
Again, Wommack was the defensive coordinator at South Alabama — where he was the youngest in the FBS — before joining IU and leading a very successful unit. IU's defense ranks first in the country in INTs (17) and tied for sixth in total takeaways (20). #iufb

If Wommack takes the job, he’ll be taking over a program that went just 4-7 this past season. They lost five of their last six games after starting out the season 3-2. We’ll also have to see if he brings anyone over from Indiana in order to fill his staff.
