Alabama has reported swooped into Bloomington and plucked strength and conditioning coach David Ballou from Tom Allen’s staff, according to reports from FootballScoop.com and Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

Tom Brew of Sports Illustrated reported that Alabama had offered Ballou the position recently, and that he was expected to take it. Now, it appears official that Ballou will be headed to Tuscaloosa to join Nick Saban at Alabama.

IU athletic performance coach Dr. Matt Rhea is also joining Ballou on the journey to Alabama, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

Ballou was a fullback for the Hoosiers in the 1990s. He has been with the football program since 2018, and was previously the co-strength and conditioning coordinator with Notre Dame. Before hitting the college ranks, Ballou worked at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Alabama is looking to replace Scott Cochran, who left the Crimson Tide to join Kirby Smart at Georgia.

Indiana will now be on the hunt to find a new strength and conditioning coach for the upcoming football season.
