An Indiana assistant coach is leaving his alma mater for a spot on Tom Herman’s staff at Texas, according to a report.

Horns247 is reporting that Indiana co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Mark Hagen is leaving Bloomington for Austin. He’ll join the Longhorns staff that Herman has reconstructed since the end of the 2019 season.

Hagen has been at Indiana since 2016, and was previously with the Hoosiers in 2011 and 2012 before leaving for a spot on the Texas A&M staff from 2013-15. He was a member of the IU football team as a player from 1987-91.

Per the report, Hagen is expected to still coach the defensive line, though there were no specific details on his role with Texas.

Hagen would be the 10th member of Herman’s staff for the 2020 season. Herman only retained three members of last year’s staff after the Longhorns finished the 2019 season with an 8-5 record, which included a 5-4 mark in Big 12 play.
