Shaun Shivers draws high praise from Tom Allen during Indiana's fall camp
Shaun Shivers is a veteran running back who joined Indiana after a 1,000-yard career at Auburn. Now, he’s looking to carve out a key role in the backfield of the Hoosiers.
So far, it sounds like Shivers is doing everything right and making a huge impression on the coaching staff. On Tuesday, head coach Tom Allen had a lot of positives to say about his game.
In particular, Allen pointed to a “toughness” that Shivers has adopted due to his undersized tag. Allen also said Shivers has a “desire to be physical.”
Shivers is listed at just 5-foot-7 but does pack a punch at 190 lbs.
Allen on Shaun Shivers: “He’s different. Very compact, very strong, very powerful.” Said he loves his desire to be physical. “He’s always been short and undersized and that creates a toughness to him.”

Allen wen ton to say Shivers does have a shiftiness and ability to make people miss with the ball in his hands. However, Shivers does not look for the sideline and shy away from contact.
He wants to punish defenders when rolling down the field.
Allen on Shivers: “He has the ability to make you miss, but he’s not looking for the sideline. He’s looking to run you over.”

Over his career with the Tigers, Shivers rushed for 1,020 yards and 5 touchdowns, and he was effective when he touched the ball at 5.1 yards per carry.
