Tom Allen is having no trouble selling his Indiana program, it seems, despite a disappointing season.

On the heels of a 2-10 campaign, the Indiana head coach has set out to retool his roster. IU is looking to close this recruiting cycle strong as the early signing period begins on Wednesday, and the Hoosiers have been equally active in the transfer portal. On Sunday, the Class of 2022 added one more with the commitment of Jamari Sharpe.

Sharpe will come north after starring for Northwestern High School in Miami. A 6-foot-1 defensive back, Sharpe is a 3-star recruit according to 247Sports.

He’s also a track star, with a confirmed 4.45 40 time and a 10.69 100-meter time. He placed 6th at Sunshine State’s 3A state track meet as a junior and was a member of a 4×100 team that captured silver. He also won a district title in the 200-meter dash a few weeks prior with a 21.47 time.

Sharpe chose Indiana over offers from Missouri, Rutgers, LSU, Mississippi State, and others. He’s the 14th known commitment in the 2022 cycle, joining Trevell Mullen and James Monds III as defensive backs in the class.
