Tom Allen credits Dwayne Haskins for leading 'best Ohio State team' he's seen
Indiana’s defense had absolutely no answer for Dwayne Haskins on Saturday.
The Ohio State quarterback threw for over 400 yards and six touchdowns as the Buckeyes downed the Hoosiers 49-26 last weekend. IU hung around for three quarters, but it just couldn’t find a way to slow down Haskins and the passing attack.
On Tuesday, Indiana head coach Tom Allen gave Haskins plenty of credit for picking apart the Hoosiers defense and leading Ohio State to a 6-0 start.
“I said before the game that I thought this was the best Ohio State team we’d played and the reason was him and the way he can throw the football,” Allen said, according to Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch.

Indiana’s defense was able to get some pressure on Haskins, forcing him to throw two interceptions in the game, the only time he’s thrown multiple picks this season. Even then, Haskins completed 33-of-44 passes and racked up 455 yards.
He was also named the B1G Offensive Player of the Week.
Through six games this season, Haskins has thrown for 1,919 yards and 25 touchdowns, leading all B1G quarterbacks in both categories. He’s considered to be one of the top Heisman candidates, behind Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
Haskins has been incredibly effective all season. He came up big in Ohio State’s first challenge against TCU, throwing for 344 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Against Penn State, he led a game-winning, 96-yard drive to take a lead in the B1G East race.
Against Indiana, he continued to flex his muscle.
In the past, Ohio State has had trouble completing passes down the field. But Haskins has proven he can make any throw in the game.
Allen’s right, that’s the difference for the Buckeyes this season. And it’s why they’re considered to be on Alabama’s heels in the CFB Playoff race.
