Tom Allen discusses impact of transfer portal decision for QB Jack Tuttle
Tom Allen’s backup quarterback Jack Tuttle has announced that he’ll be entering the transfer portal at the end of the season. Thanks to the new transfer windows for graduate transfers, he’ll be sticking around.
Indy Star’s Dustin Dopirak and Zach Osterman posted Allen’s comments.
Tuttle has no reason to leave the team during the middle of the season now that the deadline to enter the transfer portal is May 1 for fall and winter sports. Allen stated that he could see instances like this becoming more common.
Allen says he could see situations like Tuttle’s becoming more common, where grad transfer candidates who confirm their intention to leave stick with the team through the end of the season, because of the new windows. #iufb

Connor Bazelak has been the starting quarterback for Indiana this season. Tuttle has not played in a game this season, but Allen expects him to play when called upon by the Hoosiers. Tuttle will still be the backup quarterback, according to Allen.
Allen asked if Tuttle is still the backup quarterback. He said he is because he trusts Jack to still be ready to play when called upon.

Tuttle came to Indiana after spending time with Utah in 2018. He has played in 21 total games for Indiana and earned his degree last season.
Allen will definitely be glad that a player like Tuttle is staying with the team instead of leaving instantly.
