Tom Allen discusses Indiana's 'strong statement' vs. Michigan, looking ahead to Michigan State
By now, fans are well-aware of Indiana’s big win over Michigan in Week 3.
It truly was a complete performance for Tom Allen’s Hoosiers with the team carrying a 24-7 lead into halftime. In the end, the team controlled the second half for a 38-21 final.
Allen took one last time to discuss the win during his Wednesday radio appearance. What really stood out to Allen as a “strong statement” for the program was the finish by the team.
Every time Michigan scored and appeared to mount a comeback, Indiana answered right back. That included the Hoosiers running the last five minutes off the clock after getting the ball back in the fourth.
Allen tells Don Fischer he feels Indiana needed to prove they were the better team vs Michigan.
"Our guys played from start to finish. Ran football when we needed to run the football. We got three first downs and out game away. Just a strong statement for program."#iufb— PaulGable (@PaulEGable) November 12, 2020
After that, Allen turned to talk to the Week 4 showdown against Michigan State and head coach Mel Tucker. Though the Spartans are 1-2 on the season, Allen is expecting their best shot Saturday:
Mel Tucker is an exceptional coach. Hes a defensive guy. He will have those guys playing their best ball Saturday. We have to continue to play complimentary team football.
