Their second straight road victory, the Indiana Hoosiers (6-2) secured a bowl berth with Saturday’s 38-31 win over Nebraska (4-4) in Lincoln.

The earliest the Indiana program has reached bowl eligibility since 1993, head coach Tom Allen was emotional speaking with the Big Ten Network’s Rick Pizzo postgame.

Our own Dustin Schutte shared video of Allen’s comments:

“I love this team. The kids play so hard,” the coach began.

“They had a lot of adversity this week, things you don’t even know about. It’s been a hard week …

“To do what we’re doing now, at this part of the season, everybody told us we couldn’t do it.”

Drawing the start with redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr. sidelined, redshirt junior Peyton Ramsey completed 27-40 passes for 351 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on Saturday. The team’s second-leading rusher with 42 yards, Ramsey also added a score on the ground.

His quarterback’s favorite target throughout the afternoon, junior wide receiver Whop Philyor caught 14 footballs for 178 yards. Philyor’s 14 receptions tied him with James Hardy for the third-most in a single game in program history.

Looking to record their seventh win for the first time since 2007, Indiana hosts Northwestern (1-6) on November 2 at 7:00PM ET on FS1.
