Tom Allen explains Indiana's offensive secrecy ahead of Week 1
Indiana OC Walt Bell is planning on hiding as much as he can from the Illinois defense. Now, HC Tom Allen has given his thoughts on Bell’s plans for the Fighting Illini per Dustin Dopirak of the Indy Star.
The Hoosiers’ coach stated that part of the reason why they are going with the approach is due to the fact that their 1st opponent is a B1G school. Allen also believes that it is a good idea because he doesn’t want opposing DC’s to know what the offense is doing. This comes after Indiana did not have a spring game.
“There’s multiple reasons,” said Allen. “But that is the No. 1”
Allen also asked about secrecy to this point. Said opening with a Big Ten opponent is a big part of it. “There’s multiple reasons, but that is the No. 1.” Said he really doesn’t want DCs to know how their offense will work.

At this point, Allen doesn’t really about what everything else thinks of his secrecy tactics. The Indiana HC is just trying to win.
“People may not like it,” said Allen. “But it doesn’t really matter to me.”
