Tom Allen just finished a disappointing 2022 season in which his Indiana Hoosiers finished 4-8.

However, poor results from 2022 have not stopped Allen’s name from being mentioned as a candidate for other jobs. Per Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times, Allen could be considered for the head coach position at South Florida. Knight mentions that this scenario would only play out if the Bulls are unable to draw Deion Sanders or Jamey Chadwell.

The Bulls are seeking a new coach after firing Jeff Scott, who had a 4-26 record in 3 seasons.

Allen has history with the state of Florida, starting his coaching career at Temple Heights High School in the Tampa area. Allen was also the defensive coordinator for South Florida during the 2015 season under head coach Willie Taggart.

In the 2015 season, Allen’s defense was the top-scoring defense in the AAC.

Since taking over at Indiana, Allen has compiled a 30-40 record with 2 bowl appearances. Unfortunately, the Hoosiers did not capitalize on the success of the 2019-20 seasons, going 6-18 over the past two seasons.
