Having already clinched their first bowl berth since 2016, Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers are looking to reach the eight-win mark for the first time since 1993 when they travel to Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette to battle the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday.

Playing for the Old Oaken Bucket, these two programs have met 121 times dating back to 1891. While the Boilermakers hold a comfortable 74-41-6 lead in the series, Indiana won four straight from 2013-16. Purdue, however, has responded by winning the last years.

Hoping to snap that skid, it would be nice for Allen to have sophomore tailback Stevie Scott III and freshman left tackle Matt Bedford at his disposal. On Wednesday, the coach offered a brief update on the status of these two underclassmen.

Via Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star:

A Syracuse, New York native, Scott leads the Hoosiers with 845 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 178 carries (4.7 AVG). Also the team’s sixth-leading receiver, he has caught 26 passes from redshirt junior Peyton Ramsey and redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr. for 211 yards (8.1 AVG) and another score.

Closing in on consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his stint in Bloomington, Scott is just 18 rushing yards shy of 2,000 for his career.

Stepping into a starting role following senior Coy Cronk’s season-ending injury vs. UConn on September 21, Bedford had to be carted off during the loss to No. 13 Michigan at Memorial Stadium on November 23.

Saturday’s action from West Lafayette will kick at 12:00PM ET on ESPN2.
