Tom Allen shared a promising update for Indiana’s quarterback room Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, that positivity doesn’t fully change the expectations for Indiana’s season opener.

In the midst of a tough season, the Hoosiers found a spark with Dexter Williams II at QB. He engineered a road victory against Michigan State as the starter late in the season but eventually sustained a nasty season-ending injury in the finale against Purdue.

On Wednesday, Allen revealed Williams is currently ahead of schedule in his rehab from the season-ending knee injury. Unfortunately, Williams will not be ready for the beginning of the season.

Allen also said he doesn’t expect to add any more scholarship QBs for the 2023 season per Zach Osterman with the Indy Star.

Without Williams under center, Indiana will go with one of Brendan Sorsb, Tayven Jackson or Broc Lowry to begin the 2023 schedule.
