A former Hoosier has hauled in the first touchdown reception of his NFL career.

Carolina Panthers tight end Ian Thomas made his first trip to the end zone on Sunday, making his first touchdown catch at the professional level against the Atlanta Falcons. It was a tw0-yard reception in the end zone, with a few defenders swarming to the football.

Thomas made a leaping catch for the score.

Heading into Sunday’s game, Thomas had 27 catches for 224 yards on the season.

Thomas was an effective member of Indiana’s offense in his senior season (2017). Appearing in nine games, the tight end caught 25 passes for 376 yards and five touchdowns. In 2016, he had just three catches for 28 yards in two games.

Thomas was a fourth round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
