Iowa got a commitment from James Resar on Sept. 11. 247Sports analyst Andrew Ivins talked about what it could mean for Iowa in the future.
Resar is a 3-star QB from the 2024 class per the 247Sports Composite. He picked the Hawkeyes over Indiana, Toledo, Georgia Southern, and Georgia Tech. Ivins thinks that the commit from Resar could give Iowa an opportunity to change its offense for the better.
“Iowa got a quarterback commit from a guy, who I think, can unlock some things or allow Iowa potentially to transition to a more modernized attack,” said Ivins. “Sub 11 times in the 100-meter dash. I love this kid.”
Many Iowa fans around the country know that the offense is not in a good place right now. Scoring 17 points in 2 games is not going to do you a lot of good.
Ivins thinks that Iowa is a couple years away from having a really solid QB prospect on the roster. He loves how versatile he is, and what he can do for the Hawkeyes on the offensive side of the ball.
“He can beat you with his arms, he can beat you with his legs,” said Ivins. “Iowa needs to find something different. If there’s ever a time to embrace something new, I think James Resar allows you to do that.”
