Arland Bruce IV knows how frustrating it can be for the offense to struggle like it has with the defense playing so well. Bruce highlighted this at Iowa’s weekly presser.

Bruce is third on the team in receiving yards behind tight ends Sam LaPorta and Luke Lachey. That doesn’t mean much considering that the team is averaging the fewest offensive yards per game in the B1G (227.3).

“At the end of the day, we see the defense busting their ass for us,” said Bruce. “I think we as an offense have to look at those guys and hold ourselves accountable. Are we really doing everything we can to help those guys out?”

Bruce went on to further emphasize how performing well at practice only matters when it translates to the playing field.

“I wouldn’t say I feel ‘pressured’, but I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t frustrating because it’s definitely frustrating because we know we can be better,” said Bruce. “You could do whatever you want in practice, but at the end of the day, it matters about the game.”

Iowa isn’t completely out of making a bowl game just yet. However, things could go south if the team doesn’t find an offense in these last five games.

The Hawkeyes face Northwestern Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
