B1G hoops: Hawkeyes sweep B1G Players of the Week honors
It’s a good week to be associated with Iowa basketball.
After wins over Northwestern and Michigan this past week, Iowa found itself back in the Associated Press Poll with the No. 19 ranking. The Hawkeyes improved to 13-5 on the season and are 4-3 in the B1G, while riding a three-game winning streak.
The good news doesn’t end there. On Monday, the Hawkeyes swept the B1G Players of the Week awards. Luka Garza was named the B1G Player of the Week and CJ Fredrick was named the Freshman of the Week.
Not a shabby week for the Hawkeyes.
Garza had a strong start to the week, scoring 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting in a 75-62 victory over Northwestern. He finished the week with 33 points and seven rebounds in a 90-83 win over No. 19 Michigan. He averaged 30 points and five rebounds for the week.
