An Iowa bar is taking advantage of Nebraska’s woeful 0-4 start to the 2018 season.

Barley’s a bar located in downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa, has placed refrigerator full of Budweiser inside its building. But the fridge is padlocked shut and roped off. It can only be opened when the Huskers win their next game.

Nebraska fans will receive a free beer.

“As most great ideas come, they come after a few beers,” Matt Johnson, owner of Barley’s, told the Omaha World-Herald. “A bunch of Iowa fans were talking about how fun it would be to do a Cleveland Browns style cooler.”

Prior to the start of the NFL season, Bud Light ran a promotion centered around the Cleveland Browns, placing 10 locked fridges in the city. Those fridges remained locked until the Browns ended their losing streak. On Sept. 20, after a win over the New York Jets, the coolers were unlocked and fans enjoyed a free beer.

Nebraska is currently on an eight-game losing streak after suffering a loss to Purdue last Saturday. The Huskers closed out the 2017 season with four losses.

“In the spirit of being Iowa Nice, Barley’s is offering a gift to our neighbor who is hurting,” the side of the refrigerator reads. “Their once proud program can’t seem to win a game. When the Big Red ends the 2nd longest losing streak in the nation, enjoy some ‘Frosty’ cold beverages on us.”

Free beer seems to be a theme surrounding head coach Scott Frost. While he was coaching at UCF a bar in Orlando offered free beer to fans during Knights games. That trend also started because of UCF’s lengthy losing streak prior to Frost’s arrival.

Thirsty Nebraska fans just have another reason to cheer on their Huskers to victory now.
