Brian Ferentz answers whether criticism from Iowa fanbase often gets back to him
Brian Ferentz has faced his fair share of criticism as the Iowa offensive coordinator and son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz.
The younger Ferentz played for Iowa from 2001 to 2005. Ferentz went undrafted in 2006, and spent time on the Atlanta Falcons’ and New Orleans Saints’ practice squads before joining the New England Patriots as a scouting coach.
He joined the Hawkeyes upon the hiring of his father in 2012, working his way up from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator.
Since taking over as offensive coordinator, the Hawkeyes and Ferentz have come under fire for lack of a passing game. Iowa finished the regular season with just 6 passing touchdowns in 12 games, and didn’t have a passing touchdown until Week 3.
Ferentz responded to a question about whether or not criticism often gets back to him.
“My focus is on doing my job every day,” said Ferentz. “Does criticism make it to me? Of course it does. All of this gets back to me in some form or fashion, and none of it matters. My job is to wake up and try to put our players in a position to win.”
