Brian Ferentz, former Iowa OC, set to take Mountain West coaching job
Brian Ferentz has reportedly landed a new job for the 2025 season. The former Iowa offensive coordinator and longtime assistant spent the 2024 season as an offensive analyst at Maryland.
Now, per reports, Ferentz will take a job as an offensive assistant at Fresno State. The Bulldogs hired Matt Entz for their head coaching job back in December, and the new coach will add valuable experience with Ferentz.

Ferentz began his coaching career as an offensive quality control coach for the New England Patriots in 2010. The coach remained in New England until 2012 when he joined his father Kirk’s staff at Iowa.
The younger Ferentz began as an offensive line coach at Iowa before transitioning to the offensive coordinator role in 2017. The coach served as the OC for the Hawkeyes until 2023.
While at Iowa, Ferentz received plenty of criticism as the Iowa offense often struggled. In 2023, the Ferentz-led Hawkeye offense finished dead-last at No. 133 in the nation in total offense. With Ferentz as the OC in Iowa City, the unit never finished higher than No. 87 in total offense.
Now, the coach will help his luck improves at Fresno State. Entz is an experienced HC who was previously at the helm at FCS powerhouse North Dakota State. The coach won 2 national championships with the Bison and compiled a 60-11 record at the school.
