Brian Ferentz has interesting answer when asked about upside of switching QBs halfway through season
Brian Ferentz got asked about a potential quarterback change at Iowa. Iowa currently sits 7th in the B1G West, dropping games to Iowa State, Michigan, and Illinois.
The Hawkeyes have struggled on both sides of the ball, but especially offensively.
In the Week 1 contest against South Dakota State, Iowa failed to score a single touchdown, winning by a score of 7-3 thanks to two safeties and a field goal.
Hawkeye QB Spencer Petras has also struggled, totalling a QBR of 1 in a snooze-fest of a game in Week 1. After Week 2, Petras had thrown for only 201 yards passing and 2 interceptions. The Hawkeyes have only scored 98 points in six games this season.
Speaking to the media, Iowa OC Brian Ferentz was asked what the downside of giving Alex Padilla a shot was. Considering Iowa’s record and play this season, it made Ferentz’s reply even more surprising when he said “What would be the upside?”

Winning games is definitely an upside. Perhaps Iowa finds will find the upside with a change at QB, or even offensive coordinator.
